The Base provides home- stay accommodation and remote transport.
The Base is located:

• about 2km from the Maydena Adventure Hub

• about 10km from Mount Field National Park

• about 20km from the Southwest National Park

• 10 minutes from the Styx Valley

• 1 hour from Hobart.

The Base offers accommodation for travelers on a budget. It is popular with back-packers and families but was designed for the more adventurous. Dirty equipment and wet tents will not be frowned upon, but encouraged.

South West Adventure Tours provides three forms of four-wheel drive transport in the region:

Full-day tours. Providing an overview of the Southwest National Park, the Styx valley and the Florentine valley.
Half-day tours allow visitors the morning (or afternoon) to explore the tallest hardwood trees in the world in the Styx valley, or to drive out to famous Lake Pedder and take in the spectacular view. Visitors to the Mount Field National Park, famous for its incredible diversity of Tasmanian flora, may wish to be taken to Lake Dobson in the snow or to visit the pandanni grove.
Pick-ups and drop-offs are available to bush-walkers and kayakers, artists etc. up to 4 passengers can be driven to any reasonable location in the area during any season.

Tours are conducted on established and maintained non-sealed roads open to the public. No off-track four-wheel driving is conducted. Tours are strictly during daylight hours.
